01Overview

NewsLens does not collect, transmit, store, or sell any personally identifiable information. The extension operates entirely on your device, and article content is only sent to AI services for the purpose of generating analysis โ€” never for tracking, profiling, or advertising.

This Privacy Policy applies to the NewsLens browser extension available on the Chrome Web Store. By installing and using NewsLens, you agree to the practices described here.

02Data we do not collect

NewsLens does not collect any of the following:

Your name or email address
Browsing history
Location data
Device identifiers
Clicks or mouse activity
Financial information
Health information
Authentication credentials

We do not use analytics, tracking pixels, or any third-party data collection SDK.

03How article analysis works

When you open the NewsLens side panel on a supported news site, the extension extracts the text content of the article you are currently reading. This text is then sent to the following services to generate an analysis:

Article text is transmitted solely to produce the analysis result displayed in your side panel. It is not stored on any server controlled by NewsLens, and it is not used to train AI models or build user profiles.

Analysis is only performed when you explicitly open the side panel and request it. NewsLens does not run in the background or send data passively.

04Local storage

NewsLens stores the following information locally on your device using the browser's built-in storage API:

This data never leaves your device except when used directly to make API requests to Anthropic and Serper on your behalf. You can clear this data at any time by removing the extension or clearing your browser's extension storage.

05Third-party services

NewsLens relies on two external services to function:

NewsLens has no affiliation with either service and does not receive any data from them beyond the API responses shown to you.

06Permissions explained

NewsLens requests the following browser permissions, each with a specific purpose:

07Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Any changes will be reflected by updating the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. Continued use of the extension after changes are posted constitutes your acceptance of the updated policy.
